Josh Sargent Slated for First Team Start (and Pulisic injury speculation)

Let's talk about life goals today. Let's talk about Josh Sargent. Let's talk about Christian Pulisic. Let's talk about Weston McKennie. Let's talk about all the Young Americans currently making their presences felt in the Bundesliga. And let's also talk about surfing.

I've been following Josh Sargent at Werder Bremen over the past few months, wondering when he'll get his first first team start. He's been lighting shit up on the second team, with five goals in the last seven matches. And then, the other day, this happened:
No, your eyes do not deceive you. Josh Sargent's first ever (as far as I can tell) goal for the first team at Werder Bremen. Florian Kohfeldt, the Bremen head coach, has been saying for awhile that Josh is getting groomed for his first first team start in an actual Bundesliga match. The other day in a second team match he had a goal, an assist, and drew a penalty. His numbers are insane. He looks so comfortable. Which means it's only a matter of time before he gets a real first team start in a real Bundesliga match. Will he start a week from today against Nurnberg? I doubt it. But will he be on the bench and make his debut in the 70th or 80th minute? That's a distinct possibility.

The thing I'm most impressed about with Josh Sargent is his goal-scoring instinct. For the true greats, it's easier to SCORE goals than it is to NOT score them. It's natural for them. They can't not do it. And they also need to do it. This is the case with Josh Sargent.

I wonder how his German is coming. I imagine quite badly. But he looks to have ingratiated himself with the team quite well. He's young. He'll learn a few phrases.

And now let's move on to the one and only. The Hershey heretic. The kid from PA. The Dortmund Destroyer.

Christian. Mate. Pulisic.

What's up with Pulisic?

Short answer: He's "injured."

Apparently he's been having some muscular problems lately. What I haven't been able to find are any updates on this injury. Is he better? Will he be playing against Eintracht Frankfurt next Friday? I would assume he's better. At no point was this injury made out to be a big deal. In fact, it KIND OF seems like it was all just a big excuse to have him not go to the US during the international break and be exposed to the demonic presence of Neymar. Did anyone watch that game against Brazil? Is Neymar not the anti-Christ? Everything he touches turns to feces.

And lastly, Weston McKennie. Weston McKennie is dope. That's about all there is to say. He starts on the first team at motherfucking Schalke 04. He's going to score soon. He's a bruiser.

And very lastly, I'm going surfing soon. Today I go to Seattle, and tomorrow I take a bus to Portland, and then in the evening I fly to Mexico City and then Tuesday morning to Cabo for surf and fun in the sun. Mexico. So stoked.

Oh, and SUPER LASTLY, I'm thinking about studying German in Vienna this October. November at the latest. Should be nice and warm there. I don't know why I want to learn German so bad. Is it because of my roots? Is it because of soccer? Is it because I'm destined to marry a beautiful Austrian Frau? Only time will tell.

Christian Pulisic injury and the real reason he's so good

Apparently Christian Pulisic is injured. Which I find interesting, because how can you injure someone whose flesh and blood are not of this world? To injure Christian Pulisic you'd have to touch him, and I've seen what happens when defenders try to touch Christian Pulisic. Generally the ball goes through their legs or they fall down or, in the rare cases when they do lay a by comparison leprous arm on him, they concede some kind of free kick in a dangerous era. So I don't know about this supposed shin injury. And if he is injured, I doubt it happened on the pitch. I bet Isak was playing a prank on him or something like that. Maybe Aubameyang. But I'd bet dollars to proverbial donuts he's not actually injured. His presence was of course missed on the field against Wolfsburg yesterday, though his replacement, Jadon Sancho, killed it. I didn't know Jadon Sancho was that good. I'd seen him his first time on the field, but that was only a few minutes. I sinc

Pulisic Makes Bryan Ruiz Look like a Nerd

Friends, friends, friends. I made it to Germany. I'm drinking instant coffee in my Air Bnb which is just a hop skip and a triple jump away from the illustrious city of Mainz, where Dortmund will be playing next Tuesday. I'm excited. Barring injury (tap on wood; chainsaw), Pulisic SHOULD PLAY IN THIS GAME. He might not start. But he should at least play. Though lately he's been STARTING EVERY DAMN GAME because he's a FUCKING ANIMAL. AHSDJFJADSKFJDASKFJDSFKDSJFKDSJFDKJD. (I don't handle caffeine well). Quick side note: This Air Bnb is amazing. This town is amazing. My German is about an A2/B1 but I've spoken only German since I've gotten here, since the hostess is from Kosovo and doesn't speak English and the other tenant is a Turkish girl whose English is probably about as good as my German but I've been pushing the German pretty hard because I gotta speak it. Other side note: One of my blog posts has over 100 views. Two of them actually. Who

Hey Peter Bosz, play Pulisic in the middle (thoughts on Borussia Dortmund vs. Apoel Nicosia)

This morning I got up to rain and wind here in Seattle. I should've known it was a presage of things to come. I went to the grocery store and had tea and wrote some letters. Basically, I was trying to kill time until 11:45am Pacific time, when Champions League started. And then it started. I'd downloaded Sling TV to be able to watch ESPN 3 and Borussia Dortmund vs. Apoel Nicosia, one of the top Cypriot clubs. The good thing about watching this game was I got to learn the word "Cypriot." The bad thing is it was an absolute abortion. A few times during the first half I actually said, in a loud voice in my living room, "This is an abortion." Other things I said: "WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING?" -- when Götze, Bartra, Yarmolenko, Toprak, Auba, Pulisic and Kagawa gave away the ball time after time after time. "YOU ARE FUCKING OLD AND SLOW." -- when Yarmolenko could've easily gotten to a ball but was too, well, old and slow "
